Defenseman Elias Pettersson scored the game-winning goal as the Vancouver Canucks rallied with four unanswered goals in the third period to beat the visiting Calgary Flames 4-1 on Saturday.
Liam Ohgren had a goal and an assist, while Drew O’Connor and Aatu Raty also scored for the Canucks, who earned their first home win.
Tom Willander and Linus Karlsson each had two assists while Leevi Merilainen stopped 23 of 24 shots.
Matt Coronato scored and Devin Cooley stopped 22 shots for the Flames, who led for most of the game but have lost back-to-back games to begin the season.
The Canucks got off to another slow start and were outshot 11-5 in the first period. They have been outshot 38-12 and have scored just one goal in the opening period of their first three games this season.
Coronato opened the scoring at 14:51 of the first period on the power play with a long shot that beat Merilainen cleanly over the right shoulder.
Ohgren tied it 1-1 early in the third on a goal that had to be confirmed by a lengthy video review.
Ohgren broke in on net, took a shot and then got his own rebound. Cooley got a piece of the shot, but the puck rolled behind him, and he trapped it with his glove hand after it had crossed the goal line.
Pettersson backhanded a shot past Cooley at 9:04 of the third period to make it 2-1 and give Vancouver its first lead.
O’Connor scored with a wrist shot from the right wing to make it 3-1 at 16:33 and Raty sealed the win just 43 seconds later with a goal into an empty net.
This was the teams’ first of four meetings. Calgary went 2-1-0 against Vancouver in 2025-26.
Both teams return to action Sunday as Vancouver hosts Vegas and Calgary visits Seattle.
